Lasallian Schools Feature in First Catholic Schools Virtual Choir

We are delighted to announce that three of our schools have been featured in the Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) Virtual Choir for the season of 2023.

The Choir performed the version of This Little Light of Mine by American Rock singer Bruce Springsteen, and it did so at 16 different school sites under the guidance of the SCS Arts Team.

Over 400 students and staff from 107 schools were featured in the performance, which initially aired on the SCS Facebook page.

The Sydney Catholic Schools Virtual Choir is a subsidiary of Arts HQ, a program dedicated to teaching, encouraging, and celebrating the arts in young people.

The SCS system provides students with opportunities to perform in musicals, concerts, plays and other unique projects that get the students in touch with the humanities and spread joy among our communities.

The following Lasallian schools included in the Virtual Choir were thrilled to be featured and deserve the positive attention they have received.

  • St Vincent's College Ashfield (formerly De La Salle College Ashfield) is a co-ed K-12 school whose focus is on a larger continuum of learning on the fundamentals of STEM subjects while engaging students in learning mechanisms that prepare them for entrepreneurship and global competency. The school's larger mission is to educate and prepare students to go out and contribute to a just and equitable world.

  • De La Salle Catholic College, Caringbah is a boys college for grades 7-12. The emphasis at this Lasallian school is on raising and educating young men to develop strong minds and gentle hearts. The inherent goal is to teach students to be leaders who are self-directed and resilient contributors to the global community. De La Salle Caringbah aims to get the best from the boys when it comes to learning and results.

  • Holy Spirit Catholic College, Lakemba is a dynamic faith community that prepares young adults to enter the modern world with all its challenges. It is a secondary school focused on nurturing the strengths and uniqueness of each student by applying Holy Spirit Learning and a Wellbeing Framework. Holy Spirit is committed to integrating learning into the real lives of its students, always ensuring their safety and wellbeing as they work toward creating a bright future for themselves and for others based on self-respect and dignity.

Please join us in offering congratulations to our students and to our schools. It gives us great pleasure to see Lasallians thriving in their communities and participating in such a wonderful and joyous celebration of the arts.
