Encounter Day

Encounter Day

Year 11 students from all Lasallian schools across Sydney gathered at De La Salle College Ashfield for Encounter Day. Encounter Day is a unique gathering where students explore their lives and listen to others' stories. The role of storytelling allows them to connect with others, connect with their faith, and build strong relationships for their final year/s of schooling.

The day consisted of two keynote speaker sessions. The first was with Lydia Avia-Aumua from yourtown, who discussed the importance of storytelling, and the second was with Koe Evangelista (Youth Minister) and Phillipe Dulawan (Lasallian Mission Services), who explored the impact of kerygmatic stories.

Lasallian Youth Leaders, volunteers, and members of La Salle Centre also facilitated workshops that explored the many different stories that are individually unique and collectively shared. This was shared through various methods, such as food, music, writing, and photography. The day also consisted of small group sessions, which helped build relationships and unpack the concepts of encountering and storytelling, and icebreaker and communal activities to create a stronger Lasallian connection with all present.

Thank you to De La Salle College Ashfield for hosting the event, and a massive thank you to all the Youth Ministers and the Dream Team for all their support and preparation for the event.
