All things La Salle at Caringbah

Lasallian Youth Minister

Welcome, Koe Evangelista – the new Lasallian Youth Minister at Caringbah. This term Caringbah is privileged to have both Br John Pill and Koe Evangelista serving in the college community. Br John works predominantly with staff. Each Tuesday morning, Br John runs a weekly prayer group for staff called ARISE.

Koe is a talented musician and basketball player, but overall a strong young man of faith. He connects with the students both inside and outside the classroom. Below you will find an introduction from Koe:

My name is Koe Evangelista, and I am the new Lasallian Youth Minister at Caringbah and also at Revesby. I love all things basketball and all things sneakers. I especially have a love for music, but an even greater love for God. Being a youth minister involves a number of aspects, but the main intention of any action is to find ways to bring the young men and the staff of this college closer to God. The reason why I love youth ministry is because it did so much for my life to have a personal relationship with God, and to have people of faith that guided me to Him. All I want to achieve is to be able to make others feel the way I felt; to continue the ripple effect of God’s love. Having that chance to be able to know more about my faith was so pivotal in my life. It changed my thinking, how I loved, how I treated others and how I treated myself. May God bless you all! Stay safe and stay healthy!

Lasallian Service Hours

De La Salle College Caringbah never underestimates the value of service. The College Theme encourages students and teachers always to use their ‘God-given gifts to serve others’ (1 Peter 4:10).

The Lasallian Service Hours Initiative encourages students to serve, with ten hours of compulsory service required by all students. This term thus far, the following initiatives are being offered:

  • Parish Gardening.
  • St Vincent de Paul Buddies Day. Buddies Day is a community-based program where children (primary school) come to the school for a morning of fun -cooking, sport, arts and craft.

Ex-student helping to transform lives

We are delighted to highlight the achievements of an outstanding ex-student Mark Woods.

Mark graduated from Caringbah in 2014 and since has been awarded Best Performance in a four-year Environmental Management degree by the University of New South Wales and had his thesis on ways to improve water safety awarenessamong multicultural communities published.

His latest endeavour sees him cycling solo across Australia from Perth to Sydney, aiming to raise a dollar for every kilometre cycled for Doctors without Borders. He has already ridden across Western Australia and is now in South Australia riding across the Nullabor. In raising money, he hopes to help them continue to provide emergency medical aid to people desperately in need in such places as Ukraine.

Congratulations Mark, our prayers and best wishes go with you. You are an inspiration to the many Lasallian men and a shining example of a good Christian and a good Citizen.
