Culture, Creativity, and Victory: La Salle College Middle Swan Shines in Inaugural Starkick Design a Jumper Competition!

Last year, the West Australian Football Commission organised the first-ever Starkick Design a Jumper competition, inviting students from across Western Australia to unleash their creativity and design a Football Jumper that embodies the spirit of their school.

Among the talented participants, Olivia, an ex-student (2023) from La Salle College Middle Swan, emerged as the deserving winner of the competition. Drawing inspiration from her indigenous background, Olivia crafted a unique design that intricately wove together elements representing the College Education Support Unit, Aboriginal Education, College football teams, and the significance of Derbarl Yerrigan in the local community.

The prestigious prize was presented to Olivia by Hayden Marchetto, GAICD, from the All Abilities Football Association, who graced the School Assembly with his presence for the special occasion. Alongside Olivia, Mr. Riley Milligan, the Sports Coordinator of La Salle College, shared in the honour of receiving a full set of Football Jumpers, symbolising the recognition of Olivia's outstanding achievement.

The pride and excitement were palpable as the newly designed Football Jumpers made their debut on the field, adorning the Senior Girls Football team of La Salle College Middle Swan for the first time. The vibrant colours and symbolic motifs of the jumpers not only represent Olivia’s creativity but also serve as a unifying emblem for the entire school community, celebrating innovation, culture, and athletic spirit.

Olivia's success in the competition is a testament to the values instilled through a Lasallian education at La Salle College Middle Swan. The dedication to excellence, inclusivity, and creative expression nurtured within the student body enabled Olivia and her peers to shine in the realm of sports and art.
