St Bede’s College Raises Record Amount for Lasallian Communities
St Bede’s College students brought new meaning to the word Community when they united to fundraise a record $93,000 for Lasallian communities in need across the world. Of this total, $70,000 was generously donated to the ANZPPNG’s Lasallian Foundation, which has already allocated funds for critical projects in Pakistan.
The funds have been swiftly put to use: urgent roof and floor repairs are now underway at La Salle Higher Secondary School in Multan, addressing immediate safety concerns and improving learning environments for students. Additionally, a replacement security fence has been installed at the National Catechist Training Centre in Khushpur, enhancing security and safety for both students and staff.
Further support has been extended to St Joseph’s High School in Gujranwala, where renovations of the school's washrooms are set to begin. This initiative will significantly improve sanitation facilities for students, ensuring a healthier and more comfortable learning environment.
With their sights initially set on achieving a $90,000 target for the College’s annual Mission Action Day (MAD), students at St Bede’s College surpassed expectations through creative fundraising efforts. Activities such as barbecues, sausage sizzles, bake sales, car washes, Mario Kart competitions, and table tennis tournaments showcased the energy and enthusiasm of the student body and wider community.
Year 12 student Brandon Duong, the highest sponsorship donor for MAD 2024, expressed his personal connection to the cause, reflecting on his family's history and their strong support for the initiative.
“On behalf of all the College Captains, we would like to thank the entire College Community for their fundraising efforts towards MAD 2024. We successfully managed to raise a record $93,000 to help our Lasallian brothers and sisters in other parts of the world! Thank you to all individuals who donated money and prizes and we commend those who contributed to fundraising initiatives organised by student homerooms and tutor groups. The success of Mission Action Day relies on the power of our Community. To surpass our fundraising target is testament to the care and generosity of every donor and student. We look forward to sharing with you how these funds positively impact the people and communities in need.”
