Smashing Barriers: Cadbury's Sweet Victory for Girls' Cricket in Pakistan
In a significant move towards promoting women's cricket and empowering young girls, Cadbury has announced the expansion of its scholarship program during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) campaign. This expansion comes as part of Cadbury's continued commitment to fostering gender equality and providing equal opportunities for girls in sports.
Under the banner of its #Getinthegame initiative, Cadbury will now grant a cricket scholarship to a deserving girl for every 100 runs scored at the PSL. This scaling up of the program has the potential to double or even triple the total number of scholarships awarded, significantly increasing its impact. Moreover, the initiative will now reach two new cities, Multan and Faisalabad, further extending its reach and accessibility.
La Salle College Faisalabad has been instrumental in identifying and nurturing cricketing talent among young girls. Through the La Salle Daughters' Club, the college has been providing opportunities for girls to excel in sports and leadership. Recently, the college hosted trials for girls' cricket, which saw an impressive turnout and exceptional talent.
Among the various trial venues, it was the trials held at La Salle College Faisalabad that truly stood out. Seven talented girls from La Salle Daughters' Club clinched spots in the selection. Notably, two students from La Salle College, Areesha and Rimsha, have been granted scholarships as a result of their exceptional performance during these trials.
The objective of this initiative is clear: to offer equal opportunities for talented young girls to nurture their cricketing skills and pursue their dreams across Pakistan. These cricket scholarships represent more than just financial support; they symbolise a commitment to building a brighter, more inclusive future where every girl has the chance to excel in sports and beyond.
Through partnerships with educational institutions like La Salle College Faisalabad, where recent trials resulted in the selection of talented girls for scholarships, Cadbury is contributing to the holistic development of young women across Pakistan. These collaborations exemplify the synergy between corporate social responsibility and the Lasallian mission of providing quality education and empowering students to reach their full potential.
As we witness the expansion of Cadbury's scholarship program, it is evident that together, we can create opportunities that inspire and empower the next generation of female leaders. By supporting initiatives like #Getinthegame, we can break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable society.
Together, let us champion the cause of gender equality in sports and beyond, ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to shine and succeed.
