LaSalle Catholic College Bankstown Raises $10,000 for Twinned School in Pakistan, Making a Difference in Students' Lives

LaSalle Catholic College Bankstown had their annual Mission Action Day, an event where they raised funds for their twinned school, LaSalle Campus II in Faisalabad, Pakistan. The college's hardworking fundraising efforts resulted in an astonishing $10,000 being raised, which will be used to purchase new classroom furniture and for general maintenance of the school.

The students at LaSalle Campus II come from families of labourers, daily-wage workers, sanitary workers, or are unemployed. Unfortunately, these students also face various social issues in their communities, such as drug abuse, child labour, and domestic violence. These challenges make it more demanding for the school to provide a high-quality education to its students, which is why the funds raised by LaSalle Catholic College Bankstown are so essential.

The Lasallian community at Bankstown was joined by representatives from the De LaSalle brothers, members of the Lasallian Mission Council, students and staff from De LaSalle, Revesby, and the school chaplain, Fr. William, who celebrated mass for the college. This event also served as a commemoration of the 25th anniversary of LaSalle, Bankstown. The celebration was a significant milestone for the college, which opened its doors for the first time in 1951 as a Years 5-9 college for boys, eventually becoming a Years 7–12 college in 1999. While the college has seen some changes during its history, the Lasallian values of faith, service, and community continue to sit at the heart of the college.

In a letter to the School, Br Timothy Peter, Br Visitor, expressed his gratitude for the college's unwavering support for their twinned school in Faisalabad. He praised the spirit of compassion and camaraderie that the Lasallian community stands for, which is evident in the efforts of LaSalle Catholic College Bankstown. Their support will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of the students at LaSalle Campus II, who deserve nothing but the best education possible.
