Celebrating 12 Years of Service: The Inspiring Journey of Br. Tabish
This year, Br Samuel Tabish celebrates 12 awe-inspiring years as a De La Salle Brother. We have been amazed and grateful for the work that Br Samuel Tabish has done throughout these twelve years. As we look forward to more of his bold and impactful work, we also want to look back on his journey as a Brother so far. His deep attention to the Lasallian Mission and Values are not only impressive but inspirational, too. When asked how Br. Tabish would like to be remembered, he said “As a good teacher and a good Brother”. He has influenced so many lives already, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
So where did his journey as a Brother begin? Br. Tabish was raised in Khushpur, a small village in Pakistan. He was introduced to the Lasallian vocation by the De La Salle Brothers who were serving in his village. As Lasallians, we are dedicated to continuing the work of St John Baptist de la Salle, transforming the lives of young people through our ministry and acts of service. It is always moving to hear about the work of Brothers being passed on through generations, and Br. Tabish is the perfect example of this legacy. He credits “the life and service of the De La Salle Brothers” in his village as his core inspiration for joining the Brotherhood himself.
To Br. Tabish, there is no better way for him to give glory to God than through his work as a teacher. During his youth, he says he had a teacher who “actually changed my life”. He went from someone who wasn’t serious about his studies to a hardworking and diligent student. Now, Br. Tabish is able to be that influential teacher for other young people in need. Throughout his twelve years as a De La Salle Brother, he has held various teaching positions at La Salle High School in Khushpur and in Faisalabad. This year he was appointed Principal of at La Salle Urdu High School Campus 2, Faisalabad in addition to his role as Community Director of the Faisalabad Community. “I have received appreciative words from students… I think that educating children in all aspects of their lives is no less than a wonder! The future of my students is safe and bright, as I make a difference in the lives of my students, the world will be a better place to live”.
Like so many Brothers before him, Br. Tabish is able to live out our Lasallian Mission while making a positive difference in the lives of future generations. Anyone hoping to follow in his footsteps should take hope, as he has said he would do it all again if given the chance. Br. Tabish followed the traditional formative stages to becoming a Brother, starting with his Aspirancy in 2006, and followed by his Postulancy in 2011. He was appointed to the Philippines in 2012 for his Novitiate and took his first vows the following year. When asked what advice he would give to anyone considering becoming a Brother, Br Samuel had nothing but good things to say, “There is no profession like teaching in the world, so become a Brother, serve God and His people”.
We can’t help but be inspired by Br. Tabish’s journey into Brotherhood, as well as his continuous accomplishments and achievements. As one of the youngest De La Salle Brothers, Br. Tabish’s time as a Brother is only just beginning. We look forward to watching his continued devotion to God and His people, and seeing the many generations who are brought closer to God through his teaching. Thanks to Br. Tabish for his continued commitment to the Lasallian Mission and Values, and for being an example who so many will strive to emulate in their own spiritual journeys.
