Lasallian school shines at Sydney Catholic Schools' Annual Awards

Recently, Sydney Catholic Schools hosted its annual awards presentation. These awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of both students and staff throughout the 2023 sporting year. To receive an award at this presentation is an extremely high achievement with only a select few given the honour each year from across Sydney.

This year is extremely exciting for Casimir Catholic College, Marrickville, as they have FIVE students receiving awards for excellence in sport, one staff member being recognised for their service to sport and an extremely prestigious award to the College.

The following students have been recognised as elite athletes as a result of their on and off-field achievements. Each student has progressed to an extremely high level within their own sport while maintaining a strong academic profile and representing the College with pride.

  • Tiana Silva - Australian All Schools Swimming Representative

  • Samantha Pan - NSWCCC Volleyball Representative

  • Bram Robertson - NSW Judo Champion and National representative

  • Gabriel Tentomas - NSW Baseball Representative

  • Ryan Nicholas - NSW Baseball Representative

Further to these successful award recipients, the school had TWO other nominations who were unfortunate not to have received recognition for their achievements in Taekwondo.

Zac Saadat and Ali Saadat both emerged champions in the 2023 Australian All Schools Taekwondo Championships. Zac in the Black Belt division and Ali in the yellow belt division.

In addition to the outstanding efforts and successes of these students, one staff member was awarded for their contribution to sport. This staff member has done it all. Coached, managed, organised and refereed throughout the year. He has been involved in every aspect of sport throughout the year and is well deserving of the recognition he received. It is with great pleasure that we congratulate Mr Bottalico as the SCS recipient for the 2023 Service to Sport Award.

To top off these remarkable achievements, the College was also awarded an extremely prestigious award. To be more accurate, the female athletes of the College have been awarded this in recognition of their sporting achievements in 2023. “The Conference 2 Community Girls Campion Award”, formerly known as the “Ratio Award”, is presented to the College who have demonstrated the highest performing female athletes while taking into account the number of enrolments at the College. This year, Casimir Catholic College received the Community Award for their exceptionally strong performance in the SCS female sporting competition, emerging as the strongest performing school when taking into account the number of female enrolments compared to other competing schools.
