Celebrating Our Educators: A Tribute for World Teachers' Day
Dear Lasallian Community,
As we approach World Teachers' Day, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all educators within our District. Your dedication and commitment to shaping young minds are vital to our mission and the future of our communities.
Teaching is not just a profession; it is a profound vocation—an invitation to serve, inspire, and transform lives. In the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle, we are reminded that “To touch the hearts of your students is the greatest miracle you can perform.” Each day, you embrace this calling with passion, fostering an environment where students feel seen, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
We thank you for your unwavering work and for carrying on the legacy of the De La Salle Brothers and our founder. St. John Baptist de La Salle emphasised the importance of virtues for educators in his pedagogical guide. He identified twelve virtues essential for good teachers: seriousness, silence, humility, prudence, wisdom, patience, reserve, gentleness, zeal, vigilance, piety, and generosity. These virtues are not just qualities to aspire to; they are the foundation for being effective role models and moral guides for our students.
By embodying these virtues, you not only impart knowledge but also nurture curiosity, instil values, and lead students to a deeper understanding of Christ as they navigate their personal and academic journeys. Your influence shapes their character and aspirations, helping them develop resilience, empathy, and a lifelong love for learning.
As we prepare to celebrate your invaluable contributions, let us renew our commitment to supporting one another in this sacred mission. Together, we can continue to create spaces where every student feels inspired to dream big and pursue their goals.
Thank you once again for your dedication and for the miracles you perform in the lives of your students. We are truly grateful for your service.
With appreciation and solidarity,
The District Council
On behalf of the De La Salle Brothers
